The Top Secret Fudge Project Team & Web Site Redesign
***Update 4/14/2011 – This project went belly up. 🙁 ***
Big news! I’ve recruited four volunteers to help me get the first SinisterForces product out there! Also, I am negotiating terms with Phil from GM4Hire to be the project manager for this pilot product: a tribute to TSR’s Top Secret /S.I. RPG. Phil is a professional project manager for his day job, and I look forward to working with him and all of the team members (I’m going to request bios from them to share on the blog, but don’t want to mention their names until they approve). By choosing to pay tribute (i.e. – not copy) to an older out-of-print game I’m hoping that I can kill two birds with one stone.
1) Get a the core rules and mechanics completed.
2) Release a Fudge game quickly.
I’m really excited about this, because looking at everythign that I have done up to this point I’m finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I’ve got a lot of material, and it is all coming together nicely. I’m closer to publishing a game then I have ever been before. Having a team of people to work with now only makes it better because I’ll get the input that I need and I can share the workload as well.
In other news, my hosting service has added some features to my hosting plan and I’m going to be scrapping the existing forums and the wiki to use their offerings instead. I’m hoping that this will cut down on maintenace work that quite frankly I don’t enjoy doing with the current software that I use. It is perfect timing as I’m going to be opening up SinisterForces and promoting it as a place for people to come and propose different Fudge projects. If I approve a proposed project I’ll help to provide the space in my forum and my wiki for others to develop their ideas with an online community. There is nothing better than a strong community for getting product out there. It worked for the original Fudge, and Linux. Why not do it?
Any readers out there have their own suggestions as to how to build a successful community of Fudge RPG designers? I’d love to get some feedback on this topic!
