Networking: The Most Powerful Tool of the Passionate Person
I have been working hard to establish myself as someone who is passionate about RPGs. I do not want to be known just as a great writer, or blogger. I want to be known as a guy who has a great passion for RPGs!
Why?
Because if people know that you are passionate about something then they also know that you will deliver better work for what you are passionate about.
Yet how do you get the word out that you are a passionate person?
Simple: You go out and shake as many hands as you possibly can, both physically and digitally. You look for other people working in the field that you are passionate about who need help and you help them, both for pay and for free. You take your works of passion and get them into the hands of other people, both through sales and by giving them away.
And then you repeat that cycle. Again, and again, and again. You keep working with those people, helping those people, buying from those people, selling to those people, and being someone that those people can depend upon!
If that sounds like a lot of work it is, but keep this in mind: You will love every minute of it if you are truly passionate about what you are doing. If you are obsessed with achieving your goals then networking will only reinforce that obsession. Nothing is more encouraging then other people who share your passion cheering you on. You just have to keep pushing yourself to deliver good results to your network of people, and then push yourself to deliver great results as a follow-up.
Because you will succeed if other people want to work with you. You will achieve your goals if other people see that you are worth investing in.
So go out there and start developing your own personal network of people who share your passion, and if your passion is RPGs then please include me in your network!
